SOTTILE RETURNS FOR 2022; PRICE JOINS STAFF

The Green Bay Blue Ribbons unveiled their coaching staff for the upcoming 2022 season, with Anthony Sottile set to return for his second year as manager of the ballclub.

Currently serving as an assistant coach at Ripon College, Sottile is a graduate of Glenbard North High School in Carol Stream, IL, who attended college at Marian University, where he played four years with the Sabres as both a pitcher and an outfielder.

He spent the summer of 2019 pitching for the DePere Dodgers, (who would later go on to become the Blue Ribbons), posting a 2.91 ERA as one of the team’s top hurlers, before moving into coaching after an injury sidelined him.

In Sottile’s first season as the manager of the Blue Ribbons in 2021, they got off to a fast start, winning each of their first four games, including several thrilling walk-off victories.

Showcasing a proven ability to help players develop throughout the summer schedule, Sottile received a strong endorsement from his players, and will be looking for even bigger things from the Ribbons in 2022.

Sottile will be joined on the coaching staff by newcomer Haydon Price, who takes over for Austin Reimann as the team’s top assistant.

Price, who will be entering his senior year at Marian University, where he is majoring in Sports and Recreation Management with a minor in Athletic Coaching, played first base for the Sabres baseball team until he also saw his career end due to injury.

A graduate of Marquette Academy High School in Ottawa, Illinois, Price was a key contributor on his team’s Class 1A 2019 State Championship Team, earning All-Conference honors while also being named to the All-Conference Academic Team.

A two-time member of the Dean’s List at Marian, Price completed an internship with Prep Baseball Report in 2021, with hopes to continue working in baseball through either business, coaching or scouting, and is looking forward to taking on a new challenge with the Blue Ribbons in 2022.

“I plan to bring strong leadership and relentless work ethic to the members of this organization,” Price said. “I’m excited for the upcoming season to get started and hope to bring continuous excitement to the city of Green Bay.”
