GREEN BAY TAKES TWO FROM WEST ALLIS

The Blue Ribbons improved to 10-6 overall and 7-5 in Wisconsin State League play, sweeping a doubleheader from West Allis on Saturday.

Starting pitcher Reece Piontek was the story of game one, going six innings and allowing just one unearned run while striking out five.

The Ribbons took a 2-1 lead to the seventh, but West Allis scored two to jump in front 3-2. Green Bay fought back however, thanks to some clutch hits from Trent Van Ess and James Bornick, scoring three in the bottom of the seventh as Van Ess scampered home on a wild pitch for a 4-3 walk-off win.

Game two got off to a rough start, with the Nationals scoring a run in the first and three more in the third, but the Blue Ribbons responded again, scoring five runs in the bottom of the third to take a 5-4 lead.

Green Bay tacked on a run in the fourth and then exploded for six runs in the fifth. Quinn Falish launched his first home run of the season, and Bryson Webb delivered the knockout punch, belting a grand slam as the Ribbons cruised to a 12-5 win.
