Menasha, Wis. (Nick Witwer) – One day after winning the NEWBL title, the Green Bay Blue Ribbons were breaking records as a 10-0 win over the Menasha Macs at Koslo Park gave Green Bay their 26th win of the year, a new franchise record for wins in a single season.

The Green Bay bats were hot to start the night leading of the game with back-to-back singles before taking the lead and scoring two runs on a one-out  RBI double from catcher Brady LaViolette. The scoring continued from there as designated hitter Payton Kohnle would strike for a two-out RBI triple. Kohnle would then score on the next at bat on an RBI single from Eli Frank would put Green Bay up now 4-0.

All was mostly quiet on the base paths from both teams until the top of the sixth inning when Kohnle would strike again for the Blue Ribbons, driving in one run on a one-out single. A ground out later in the inning from Laviolette would score yet another run, bumping the lead up to six.

In the seventh inning, it was more of the same from Green Bay. A two-out triple from left fielder Wilson Zuck scored a run. Zuck would score on the very next at bat which was an RBI single from center fielder Carter Kallies to give Green Bay the 8-0 lead.

Zuck and Kallies were at it again in the ninth inning. Taking it upon themselves to decide eight runs wasn’t enough, an RBI single from Zuck, paired with an RBI double from Kallies, would bring two more runs home as the Blue Ribbons offense continued to pour it on.

Offensively in this one for Green Bay, Payton Kohnle led the way going 4-5 with a triple, two RBIs, two runs scored. Wilson Zuck went 3-5 with a triple, two RBIs, and three runs scored. Carter Kallies also finished 3-5 with a double, two RBIs, one run scored, and one walk. As a team, Green Bay finished with ten runs on 16 hits.

Ten runs are usually way more than enough when Owen Deprez takes the mound for the Blue Ribbons. That was no different today as Deprez started the game and pitched six scoreless innings while allowing just three hits and striking out 11 batters. Austin Grube was given the nod to pitch the final three inning and he did so without allowing any runs while giving up only one hit and struck out an additional three batters.

The 10-0 win is Green Bay’s 26th win of the season breaking the franchise record for most wins in a season which was set by last year’s team with 25 wins. The Blue Ribbons will take the weekend off and will look to keep the winning ways going when they return home to Joannes Stadium on Monday, July 22, to take on the Denmark Devilbears in non-league play.
