After five days off following the cancellation of their last four games due to rain, the Blue Ribbons returned to play on Wednesday night, traveling to Appleton to take on the Legends in a NEWBL contest.
Appleton claimed an early 1-0 lead with a run in the second, and pitching dominated early on, but the Blue Ribbons finally broke through for a pair of runs in the sixth. After Daisuke Sasaki reached on a two-out error and stole second base, Tyler Blum singled to right, driving in Sasaki to tie the game. Trent Van Ess followed with an RBI double to left, driving in Blum to give the Ribbons a 2-1 lead.
Green Bay extended their lead in the seventh, when Sasaki singled to drive in Bennett Frazer and Jacob Lacy, making it 4-1. They added three more insurance runs in the ninth, when Blum ripped a bases-clearing double to bring home Sasaki, Frazer and Jeremy Laffoon for the final 7-1 margin.
Jonah Landowski got the start and picked up the win after going six innings and allowing just one run on two hits while striking out seven. Noah Robinson followed with two scoreless innings of relief and Isaiah Robinson shut down the Legends in the ninth.
