Lombard earned a series sweep over Greater Green Bay on Sunday afternoon as they defeated the Blue Ribbons by a score of 10-2 in the first game of their doubleheader, before picking up a 10-6 victory in game two,
The Orioles again jumped out to an early lead in the first game, putting up seven runs in the first inning. The Ribbons got one back in the second, then cut the lead to 7-2 when Noah Robinson launched his first home run of the season in the fourth inning.
Lombard responded with two in their half of the fourth, and then tacked on one more in the sixth for the final 10-2 tally.
Game two proved to be the most competitive contest of the weekend, with Green Bay jumping out to an early 3-0 lead in the first. Daisuke Sasaki singled to lead off the game, and Tyler Blum was hit by a pitch, putting runner on first and second. Jonah Landowski followed with a one-out single to score Sasaki, and then Trent Van Ess singled to drive in Blum and Landowski.
The Orioles answered right back with two runs in their half of the first, then pushed six runs across in the second to move in front. The Ribbons tried to chip away, scoring single runs on sac flies in the third, fourth and fifth to make it 8-6, but that would be as close as they would get, as Lombard tacked on a pair of insurance runs and shut the Blue Ribbons down from there.
With an off day on Monday, the Blue Ribbons will look to get back in the win column on Tuesday night, when they travel to Sheboygan to take on the A’s. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
