RIBBONS ANNOUNCE 2020 AWARD WINNERS

Most Valuable Player – Griffin Summers

The Greater Green Bay Blue Ribbons unveiled their award winners for the 2020 season, with six players receiving honors for their work, on and off the field.

Summers saw action in 43 games for Greater Green Bay this past summer, and the former Preble Hornet led the team in games played, hits, runs scored and stolen bases while finishing the year hitting .294/.364/.426.

Most Valuable Pitcher – Grant Frazer

A reliever at Central Michigan, Frazer racked up 31 strikeouts while posting an earned run average of 1.35 for the Blue Ribbons this past summer.

Rookie of the Year – Mitchell Bendickson

A graduate of Oshkosh North High School, Bendickson logged 32.1 innings on the mound, posting a 4.73 earned run average, while also seeing action at first base and in the outfield.

Blue Ribbon Award – Lane Sobieski

A leader, on and off the field, Sobieski collected 18 hits in 32 games while belting one home run, and capably guiding a young Ribbons pitching staff behind the plate.

Wisconsin State League Scholarship Nominee – Sam Kohnle

In 31 games as Greater Green Bay’s starting first baseman, Kohnle hit .362/.452/.495 with 11 doubles and a home run, while also driving in a team-high 25 runs.

In addition to the team awards, the Wisconsin State League also announced their All-League teams for this past season, and outfielder Yuta Kudoh was named to the league’s second-team.

Playing in 42 games during his first season as the Ribbons’ right fielder, Yuta finished the year with an OPS of .711 while stealing 14 bases and scoring 26 runs.
