The Blue Ribbons got the NEWBL tournament started off on the right foot, defeating Appleton by a score of 10-7 on Monday night.
Green Bay jumped out to a 4-0 lead with three runs in the first and another in the second, but Appleton plated a run in the fourth and then took the lead with a four-run sixth.
The Legends added to their lead with two runs in the seventh, but the Ribbons responded with four in the bottom half of the inning, keyed by a bases-clearing double from Zach Ziesmer that drove in three runs and put Green Bay back on top, 8-7.
The Blue Ribbons picked up a pair of insurance runs in the eighth, and Grant Maus retired the side in order in the ninth to preserve the victory.

The Ribbons are off on Tuesday, then will play Kewaskum on Wednesday night in Appleton as they continue round robin play in the NEWBL tournament. They return home to Joannes on Thursday night for their final home game of the season, squaring off with the Menasha Macs.
