BLUE RIBBONS NAME TANNER ALSTEEN AS NEW MANAGER

GREEN BAY, WI – The Green Bay Blue Ribbons are thrilled to formally announce the hiring of Tanner Alsteen as their new Field Manager for the 2026 season.

Alsteen is a name that should be quite familiar to Blue Ribbons fans, as he recently spent three seasons pitching for the team from 2022-2024. A Wisconsin native, who coached previously at Five Star Wisconsin, Alsteen graduated from Luxemburg-Casco High School in 2021. He attended Marian University, where he played four years of baseball, and was named to the All-NACC Second Team, and CSC Academic All-District as a senior.  Alsteen graduated from Marian University last spring with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, and is currently attending graduate school at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.

“I’m excited to welcome Tanner back into the Blue Ribbons organization as our new Head Coach for the upcoming season”, said Team President, Ken Leo. “Tanner exemplifies all the leadership skills to move the program forward. Over his Blue Ribbons career, and more specifically, during our 2024 Championship, he showed a bulldog mentality that helped lead our pitching group. I’m excited to see that mentality brought to the leadership of the whole team.”

Alsteen becomes the eighth Manager in Blue Ribbons history dating back to 1970. The legendary Denny Ruh led the ballclub for most of the team’s first run from 1970-1995, with Roger Gerrits and Mark Miller stepping in during a couple of brief absences. When the team returned in 2016 as the De Pere Dodgers, it was once again Ruh who was at the helm from 2016-2019. Luke Gajewski took the reins late in the 2019 season and managed the team in 2020, then Anthony Sottile came on board in 2021, leading the squad for three seasons, before turning the keys over to Haydon Price for the last two years.

Brian Price, Jr. was originally given the Manager position in late October, but both he and Haydon Price stepped down from their roles with the organization to join the East Chicago Thunder, with Haydon Price taking on the role of General Manager with the Thunder on November 25th, before his brother opted to join him on December 2nd with the title of Assistant GM/Bench Coach. Brad Krause will step into the role of General Manager for the Blue Ribbons.

The Green Bay Blue Ribbons are a semi-pro baseball team participating in the Wisconsin State League. Made up predominantly of college-age players, the Blue Ribbons play roughly 50 games each summer, starting around Memorial Day and ending in early August, with their home games at historic Joannes Stadium on Green Bay’s east side.
