NATIONALS TAKE TWO FROM GREEN BAY

RIBBONS DROP BOTH GAMES OF SATURDAY DOUBLEHEADER

The Blue Ribbons took an early 3-0 lead in game one, scoring two runs in the second inning, and another in the third, but West Allis got a run in the fourth, before erupting for six runs in the fifth. The Ribbons nearly got out of the jam, but a fly ball that would have ended the inning, was misplayed and five of the six West Allis runs scored following the error.

The Nationals tacked on three more runs in the top of the sixth to make the score 10-3, and the Ribbons went down quietly from there, dropping the first half of their doubleheader.

In game two, the Blue Ribbons again took an early lead, when designated hitter Sam Kohnle drew a bases loaded walk to bring home center fielder Luke Gajewski with the game’s first run.

But the Nationals bounced right back with another crooked number, putting up five runs in the top half of the fourth to take a 5-1 lead.

They tacked on another run in the fifth and then the rain started again, resulting in the game being called early with West Allis being awarded a rain-shortened victory.
