RIBBONS ROUGHED UP BY LEGENDS

APPLETON DEFEATS GREATER GREEN BAY 10-2

The Blue Ribbons fell behind early and were never able to claw their way back into the game, as they fell to Appleton by a score of 10-2 on Thursday night.

The Legends plated three runs in the bottom of the second inning, then tacked on another in the fourth and two more in the fifth to take a 6-0 lead.

Greater Green Bay finally got on the scoreboard in the top of the eighth, when they strung together four consecutive singles to start the inning. Griffin Summers led off the inning with a line drive to center, then moved to second on base hit by Eric Modaff. Sam Kohnle followed with a single to drive in Summers, and then Jacob Lacy looped a single to right to drive in Modaff and make it 6-2.

That would be as close as the Ribbons would get however, as Appleton answered right back with four runs in the bottom half of the eighth, before shutting down Green Bay in the ninth for the final margin of victory.

The Blue Ribbons previously scheduled game for Friday night at Menasha has been cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns with the Macs, so Greater Green Bay will have an off day before returning home to Joannes Stadium this weekend for doubleheaders on both Saturday and Sunday.
