GREATER GREEN BAY FALLS TO APPLETON
The Greater Green Bay Blue Ribbons and Appleton Legends squared off again on Monday night, and this time it was the Legends that came out on top, edging the Ribbons by a score of 3-2.
Appleton jumped out to an early lead with a run in the bottom of the first, but Green Bay answered back with a run in the top of the third on a single by center fielder Eric Modaff, that drove in catcher Lane Sobieski to tie the game at 1-1.
The Legends took the lead back with single runs in the third and the sixth, making it 3-1, before the Ribbons tried to mount a rally in the seventh. A one-out single by Matt Bald was followed by a double from Sobieski that brought Bald around to score, but Sobieski was cut down heading to third and the Blue Ribbons were unable to muster any more offense, going down quietly in the eighth and ninth, as Appleton came away with the victory.
