BURLINGTON SWEEPS SATURDAY DOUBLEHEADER

PITCHING STRUGGLES DOOM GREATER GREEN BAY

The Ribbons fell behind early in game one and were not able to rally back, as Burlington got to starting pitcher Trevor Olmsted for two runs in the second, another in the third, and three more in the fourth to take a 6-0 lead.

Greater Green Bay finally got on the scoreboard in the fifth when Lane Sobieski scored on an RBI single by leadoff hitter Yuta Kudoh, but the Barons responded with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning to extend their lead to 8-1.

The Blue Ribbons added one more run in the seventh but it was not nearly enough, as they fell by a score of 8-2. Olmsted took the loss after allowing eight runs on 12 hits over six innings of work, while Kudoh paced the offense, getting on base three times, going 2-for-3 with a single, a double and a walk.

In game two, the Blue Ribbons put up a pair of runs in the top of the first when Jake Berg doubled to center, driving in both Jacob Lacy and Sam Kohnle for an early 2-0 lead.

The lead didn’t last long however, as the Barons plated three runs in their half of the first. Green Bay tied it back up in the second on an Eric Modaff single that scored Ethan Habetler, but Burlington answered with four more runs in the bottom of the second and that would prove to be the difference as Burlington cruised to a 9-3 win.
