NINTH INNING RALLY COMES UP SHORT

GREATER GREEN BAY EDGED BY SHEBOYGAN

The Blue Ribbons had the tying run just 90 feet away, but weren’t able to get him in, as they fell to the Sheboygan A’s by a score of 7-6 on Tuesday night.

Sheboygan took an early lead, when they scored two runs in the first inning on a home run by Josh Moses, but Greater Green By answered with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Yuta Kudoh was hit by a pitch, stole second and then third as well, and came in to score when the throw to third sailed into left field.

Each team plated a run in the third and the A’s added two more in the fourth, but the Ribbons responded again, scoring three runs in the bottom half of the fourth to knot the game at 5-5.

The game stayed deadlocked until the ninth, when Sheboygan managed to score two runs off of reliever Tyler Blum, leaving the Blue Ribbons in need of two runs to tie in the bottom of the ninth.

Matt McNabb and Kudoh each walked to get things started, and then with two outs, the A’s made the unusual move of intentionally walking first baseman Sam Kohnle, putting the go-ahead run on base. McNabb would come in to score on a wild pitch to pull within a run at 7-6, as Kudoh and Kohnle moved up a base, but that would be as close as they would get, as Austin Reiman got a strikeout to end the game and drop the Ribbons record to 8-13 on the season.
