BLUE RIBBONS THUMP A’s

MODAFF SHINES AS GREATER GREEN BAY CRUISES TO VICTORY

The Blue Ribbons bats came up big on Wednesday night, collecting nine runs on 13 hits as they rolled over the Sheboygan A’s, 9-2.

Sheboygan took an early lead, but Greater Green Bay answered right back in the top of the second when Sam Kohnle led off the inning with his first home run of the season, a laser to left that got out of the yard in a hurry.

The A’s reclaimed the lead in the bottom half of the second, but the Blue Ribbons exploded for six runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by a two-run double off the bat of center fielder Eric Modaff.

Green Bay tacked on two more runs in the sixth when Modaff singled, stole second, moved to third on a throwing error, and scored on a double by shortstop Griffin Summers. Then Summers came in to score on an RBI single by right fielder Yuta Kudoh to make it 9-2.

Modaff finished the night 4-for-5 with two singles, a double and a triple to lead the offense, while Mitchell Bendickson worked the final 5.2 innings on the mound, allowing just one run, en route to picking up the win.
