BLUE RIBBONS DROP FIRST OF THREE

6/19/22 | Nick Witwer

The Blue Ribbons had their first game of three games this weekend against the Burlington
Barons on Saturday.

Logan Lange was on the bump to start this one and looked good early giving up just one hit
through the first four innings. At the plate, the Blue Ribbons had identical first and third innings
that saw Griffin Summers walk and then get brought around to score off a single from Eli
Frank
in both innings.

Things would get put of control in the fifth inning. The Barons were able to get to Lange for seven runs and ending his night. In the bottom of the inning, Frank kept his great night going by
sending a ball over the left field wall for two runs.

In the seventh inning, both the Barons and Blue Ribbons would add three more runs to their
totals. The Blue Ribbons doing it off a bases clearing double from Liam Jones. In the eighth,
Frank would bat in another run sending the Blue Ribbons into the ninth down just two runs.
In the top half of the inning, Connor Medvecz would keep the deficit at two runs despite
allowing two walks giving Green Bay a chance. After starting the inning with two walks and a hit
by pitch, the Ribbons had the bases loaded, no outs, and three of the teams hottest hitters due
up. After back to back strikeouts and a pop up, the team would fail to muster any runs and the
game would end with a final score of 10-8.

Despite the loss, there were a number of positives at the plate in this one. Frank finished his
night 4-5 with a home run, a double, and five runs batted in. Both Summers and Steven
Russell
would reach base three times.

The Blue Ribbons will look to get their revenge against the Barons in a Father’s Day double
header. First pitch of the first game is scheduled for 1 PM.
