BLUE RIBBONS EARN SUNDAY SPLIT

Green Bay finished the WSL 5th Game Challenge at 3-1 after dropping their first game on Sunday to Lombard, before bouncing back to knock off Addison in their second game of the day.

The Blue Ribbons hung in against a historically tough Lombard team in game one, as starting pitcher Logan Lange went five innings and gave up two earned runs, before the Orioles tacked on a couple more late runs off of reliever Connor Medvecz for the final 5-1 margin.

Sunday’s second game was another low-scoring pitcher’s duel, as Jared Hanson made his first start for the Blue Ribbons, striking out seven over 5.2 innings of work en route to leading Greater Green Bay to a 3-2 win.

The Ribbons plated single runs in each of the third, fourth and fifth innings to take a 3-0 lead, with catcher Steven Russell leading the way, going 2-for-3 with a double.

West Allis would get on the scoreboard late with a pair of runs, but Owen Deprez came in to shut the door, getting a double play to end the game and preserve the 3-2 win.
