GREEN BAY TAKES TWO ON SATURDAY

The Blue Ribbons improved their record to 7-4 with a pair of wins to open the Wisconsin State League’s 5th Game Challenge on Saturday.

The offense was the story in game one, as the Ribbons scored 11 runs to defeated West Allis by a final tally of 11-9. James Bornick and Peyton Seebacher both homered for Greater Green Bay, while Eli Frank reached base three times and drove in three runs, and Sam Ott added a pair of hits.

In game two, it was pitching that carried the team, with Liam Jones going six strong innings, and Blake Wallenfang tossing the final two frames as the bats took a while to get going.

The Blue Ribbons offense finally came to life late in the ballgame, sending the game to extra innings with a run in the bottom of the seventh. After Kenosha added a run in their half of the eighth, Green Bay fought back again to tie the game, as Trent Van Ess tripled to lead off the inning and then scored on an Eli Frank RBI groundout. Peyton Seebacher added another triple to put the winning run just 90 feet away, and Matt Perry delivered with a line drive to center that scored Seebacher and gave the Ribbons a 4-3 victory.
