After a rough outing in Addison over the weekend, the Blue Ribbons returned to Joannes Tuesday night to take on the Manitowoc Bandits. With UW–Stevens Point recently losing, the Blue Ribbons had some big bats rejoin the team, including last seasons MVP, Trent Van Ess.
The bats would get it going early. First Baseman, James Bornick would stay hot with a lead off double in the first followed by another double in the second that would plate two runners. In the third inning, Eli Frank would deliver with a one-out triple. He would then score on a Griffin Summers ground out. The scoring would pick up again in the fifth inning. After a single and a walk, Summers would get himself two more RBIs on another one-out triple. Ethan Habetler would then come through with his second double of the day giving the Blue Ribbons six runs through five innings. In the seventh inning, The Blue Ribbons would add on three more runs coming off multiple walks and singles giving them nine total runs on the night.
On the mound, Tanner Alsteen had a dominant outing going seven full innings and striking out ten batters. Alsteen would give up just one run on a home run in the third inning. Reliver, Owen Deprez, would finish off the rest of the game, allowing a walk and striking out six of the seven batters he’d face.
The 9-1 victory is the team’s largest margin of victory this season. The Blue Ribbons will look to keep the offense going strong on the road this weekend before returning home on Tuesday, June 14th, for Armed Forces Night.
