The Blue Ribbons got some great pitching and some timely hitting as they swept their Saturday doubleheader with Kenosha, shutting out the Kings in game one, before rallying for a 2-1 victory in game two.
Jonah Landowski got the start in game one, and earned the win after going six shutout innings, scattering three hits and striking out seven. Josh Gates came on in relief and retired the side in order to earn the save.
Left fielder Trent Van Ess had an RBI triple and also scored a run, while second baseman Ethan Habetler and shortstop Griffin Summers each added a double.
In game two, right-hander Alec Danen got the start and went the distance on just 76 pitches, allowing only one run while punching out six.
The Ribbons tied the game at 1-1 in the fourth when Landowski doubled and came around to score on a base hit by right fielder Dylan Krumrei, then scored the go-ahead run in the sixth, when third baseman Adam Gutschow led off the inning with a single and wound up scoring on a single by Landowski.
Green Bay and Kenosha will be back at it again tomorrow afternoon, with another doubleheader scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM.
