HOME SWEET HOME

After a grueling road trip and a cancellation of Tuesday’s game, the Blue Ribbons
returned home to Joannes for the first time this month. Hosting Menasha for the second time this
season, Sam Ott would take the mound as the Blue Ribbons looked to get back to five hundred
in the Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League standings.

The game went back and forth in the early innings as the Macs got on the board first
scoring on an error in the first inning. The Blue Ribbons would answer in the bottom of the
inning with an Eli Frank single that plated Matt Perry. Green Bay would score another run in
the bottom of the second inning before Menasha tied things up in the third and took the lead in
the fifth. Down just one run going into the bottom of the ninth inning, Griffin Summers would
get things going with a leadoff walk. That would be followed by three more walks including a 2-
out Liam Jones walk that scored the tying run. With the winning run on third base, the Blue
Ribbons season leader in hits and runs batted in, Eli Frank, would step up to the plate. After
Menasha made a pitching change and put Eli Davila on the mound, it was the battle of the Elis
with the game on the line. On the first pitch of the at bat, the ball would get past the Macs
catcher and allow speedster, Tyler Blum, to score giving the Blue Ribbons the walk-off, 4-3
win.

On the mound in this one, Sam Ott had himself another quality start going six full
innings and allowing three total runs, two earned. Tanner Alsteen pitched three shutout innings
and struck out five batters to keep the Blue Ribbons within striking distance. At the plate, it was
another big night for Eli Frank as he would finish three for four with a double and two singles.
Both Griffin Summers and Noah Robinson also reached base three times.

The Blue Ribbons will be back at Joannes Stadium again this weekend as they get
prepared to host the Lombard Orioles for double headers on Saturday, the 16th , and Sunday the
17th. First pitch of Saturday’s first game is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
