RIBBONS DROP GAME ONE, BUT BOUNCE BACK BIG IN GAME TWO

The Blue Ribbons split a doubleheader for the second day in a row on Sunday afternoon, falling to Addison 12-0 in game one, before erupting for 15 runs in game two in a 15-4 win over the Braves.

In game one, Addison plated a run in the first, and then added two more in the second against starting pitcher Cameran Crawford, opening up an early 3-0 lead.

The Braves added to that lead from there with a big third inning, sending ten batters to the plate, while pushing five runs across in the bottom of the third to extend their lead to 8-0.

Zachary Bruce took over on the mound for Greater Green Bay in the fourth, but the Braves continued swinging hot bats, tacking on four more runs, highlighted by a Jake Bilotta home run to lead off the inning.

The Ribbons were shutout on four hits, with Griffin Summers, Matt Bald, Jake Fietz and Lane Sobieski each collecting a single.

Game two got off to a better start, when the Blue Ribbons jumped out to an early lead with a run in the first inning. After Sam Kohnle was hit by a pitch and Matt Bald drew a walk, right fielder Yuta Kudoh lined a double to left, driving in Kohnle with the game’s first run.

The Braves responded with a run in their half of the first, but Green Bay answered by exploding for nine runs in the second inning, capped off by a Sam Kohnle double that drove in Tyler Blum and Zach Ziesmer to make it 10-1.

The Ribbons added to their lead in the third, scoring three more runs, highlighted by a single off the bat of third baseman Ethan Habetler that scored Kudoh, but Addison put up three of their own in the bottom half, making it 13-4 through three innings.

Greater Green Bay finished out the scoring with two more runs in the fifth, as designated hitter Zach Ziesmer blasted a two-run home run, and Nathan Peterson finished out the game with 2.1 scoreless innings of relief as the Blue Ribbons improved their record on the season to 3-2.
