GRUBE DOMINATES KENOSHA HITTERS, RIBBS BEAT KINGS 2-0

Sheboygan, Wis. (Nick Witwer) – The Green Bay Blue Ribbons traveled to Sheboygan Monday night for a “home game” against the Kenosha Kings in what was a make-up of a previously rained out seven-inning game at the Wisconsin State Baseball League’s Fifth Game Challenge.

After dropping three games to Lombard over the weekend and falling into second place in the WSL standings, Green Bay entered Wildwood Park looking to rebound and make up some ground against the newly ranked first-place Kenosha Kings.

Green Bay’s pitching shined as they dominated the Kenosha batting lineup in a game that turned into quite the pitcher’s duel.

Ian Dohms got the starting nod and pitched for a full two innings of work in which he allowed just one hit and no runs while walking three batters and striking out two. Austin Grube, who’s quickly becoming a household name within the Blue Ribbons community, stole the show from there going the final five innings of the game allowing no runs on just two hits and walking just one batter while striking out nine.

Offensively, the Blue Ribbons would record five hits on the night with the two big ones coming in the bottom of the third inning. Being no-hit at the time, center fielder Carter Kallies would get things started with a lead-off triple. That triple would be followed up by an Ashton Long long bomb to give Green Bay the 2-0 lead which was the eventual final score.

The Blue Ribbons now improve to 14-5 in the WSL (24-9 overall). The team will take the night off on Tuesday before heading right back to Wildwood Park on Wednesday night for an away game against the Sheboygan A’s.
