HAYDON PRICE NAMED MANAGER OF BLUE RIBBONS

GREEN BAY, WI – The Green Bay Blue Ribbons are thrilled to announce the hiring of Haydon Price, who will officially take over to serve as just the sixth Manager in the long and storied history of the organization.

A recent graduate of Marian University in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, where he majored in Sports and Recreation Management with a minor in Athletic Coaching, Price played first base for the Sabres baseball team until he saw his playing career end due to injury. He attended High School at Marquette Academy in Ottawa, Illinois, where he was a key contributor on his team’s Class 1A State Championship Team in 2019, earning All-Conference honors while also being named to the All-Conference Academic Team.

A strong recruiter, who interned with Prep Baseball Report in 2021, Price joined the Blue Ribbons in 2022, and has spent the past two seasons working as an assistant coach under Anthony Sottile. He helped lead the team to 25 wins last season – a franchise record since the organization’s return in 2016 – and filled in as Interim Manager on several occasions when Sottile missed time. “I am honored and humbled to be given the responsibility of leading the Green Bay Blue Ribbons,” Price said. “I would like to thank Anthony Sottile for believing in me as his assistant, and for his servant leadership over the past three seasons. I look forward to continuing our goal of developing high level baseball players, and competing each year for the league championship.”

Price becomes just the sixth Manager in Blue Ribbons history dating back to 1970. The legendary Denny Ruh led the ballclub for most of the team’s first run from 1970-1995, with Roger Gerrits and Mark Miller stepping in during a couple of brief absences. When the team returned in 2016 as the De Pere Dodgers, it was once again Ruh who was at the helm from 2016-2019. Luke Gajewski took the reins late in the 2019 season and managed the team in 2020, before Anthony Sottile came on board in 2021, leading the squad for the past three seasons.

The Green Bay Blue Ribbons are a semi-pro baseball team participating in both the Wisconsin State League and the Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League. Made up predominately of college-age players, the Blue Ribbons play roughly 50 games each summer, starting around Memorial Day and ending in early August, with their home games at historic Joannes Stadium on Green Bay’s east side.
