BIG 5TH INNING LEADS TO A BLUE RIBBONS WIN

6/1/22 – Nick Witwer | Green Bay Blue Ribbons

The long awaited 2022 season opener went underway in an offensive battle between the Green Bay Blue Ribbons and the Sheboygan A’s.

Sheboygan wasted no time and started the game by scoring two runs from three straight hits off of Liam Jones. After an error followed by a double, the A’s would plate another run.

The Blue Ribbons then answered with a three-run inning off of three hits.

Liam Jones’ day would come to an end after walking a batter to start the fifth inning. That walk would eventually make its way around to score giving Jones four total runs against him on the night with three runs being earned.

Trailing 4-3, the Blue Ribbons would proceed to have a monster inning that was kickstarted by a James Bornick lead off triple. After four more hits, a walk, and a hit batter, Green Bay would score five runs as ten total batters would see a plate appearance.

From there the game would remain mostly quiet. The Blue Ribbons would add another run in the seventh and took a five-run lead into the ninth inning.

Logan Lange would get himself two quick outs to start the inning before issuing a walk. Sheboygan third baseman, Jacob Neese, would follow that walk up with the first home run the Jo had seen this season. Lange remained focused on the mound despite the homerun and stuck out the next batter to end the game with a final score of 9-6 in favor of the Blue Ribbons.

The Blue Ribbons will look to build off the season opening win when they host the Kewaskum A’s this Friday night. First pitch is schedule for 6:45 PM.
