The Blue Ribbons returned to Joannes Stadium Friday night for their inaugural Media Day and Fan Fest. The event gave fans a sneak preview of the team as they prepared for the 2022 campaign.  After interview times with veteran players, an intrasquad scrimmage game took place between the Anthony Sottile led Red Team and the Haydon Price led Blue Team.

Red team got the scoring started in the bottom of the first inning, as last years runs leader, Tyler Blum, got the first hit of the night and would cross the plate on a wild pitch from Liam Jones. In the second inning, Red Team would add another run following two walks, a steal, a wild pitch, and a fielder’s choice ground out to third base. The game would then open up in the third as a double by Griffin Summers would plate Blum for a second time on the night. After back-to-back deep fly outs, Summers was able to tag up on each one and come across the plate as well.

(Red Team Stats)

Blum – 1-2, BB, Steal, 2runs

Summers – 1-3, Double, run

Whiffen – 2.0IP, 2H, 0R, 0ER, 2K, W

On the other side, Blue Team was quiet at the plate as Red Team pitchers gave up just two hits on the night. Blue Team threatened for a bit in the fourth inning, but were only able to get base runners to second and third. After five full innings of play, the scrimmage would conclude with Red Team winning 4-0.

Jones – 2.0IP, 1H, 2R, 2ER, 3K
